Wall Insulation  Polyurethane basics foamed-in-place polyurethane was developed in europe. It was first used in north america during the 1960s, first as an insulator for commercial cold-storage buildings and later as a commercial roofing material. Polyurethane foam has had a harder time penetrating the residential market. During the 1970s and early 80s, a foamed-in-place product known as uffi an abbreviation for urethane formaldehyde foam insulation was widely used for retrofitting uninsulated houses but was later found to offgas potentially harmful amounts of formaldehyde into living spaces.

Install a vapor barrier between living space and insulation. Most people are familiar with eps, as it is used to make coffee cups and packing beads for shipping. Todays light-colored interior paints reflect much radiant energy. Blinds, being more rigid than curtains, can more easily be treated with special coatings or incorporate a thin insulating film. To stop all three processes, fill the wall with a nonconductive air-movement inhibitor - insulation - and face it with a radiation reflector or absorbent. These will almost certainly need to be specially made. 9, a glass pane conducts and radiates energy both ways, which is great during sunny winter days but inefficient at night (and the reverse in summer). It is applied by a trained installer and is sprayed in a paint-thin layer into open wall cavities.
